A prayer for changing lives:
Lord, you are the
changeless one who comes to
change us into the likeness of Jesus Christ, your Son. Grant that
we,
changed and transformed by your Spirit, may be the instruments of
changing
lives in the world you so love. Amen.
Prayer Corner
At the side of the Lady Chapel is a basket where you may leave
prayer requests. Members of the congregation will pray for the person
or
situation
mentioned.
More information is
available from Judy Chiplen.
Please feel at home praying in the chapel - it is what it is for!
Monthly Prayer Group
This is quite a
new venture for the church and it is very exciting
to see how the Lord will direct us. We meet on the last Friday
afternoon of
the month, 2.30pm in someone's home.
Thursday 'Oasis of
Peace'
A significant number of people have come to value the Thursday
communion each
week at 9.30am. Perhaps you haven't 'discovered' it yet?
Or, maybe,
you haven't got round to it. If not, please do give it a try -
just come
and drink in the peace of this half-hour oasis.
Of the 150 members in this
congregation only 20 have full time
employment. Due to privatisation of the mines, many miners were
made
redundant and there are no industries in the area. Many husbands
have had
to seek work elsewhere but cannot afford to return home at the weekends
causing
distress for their families and many beakdowns in marriage. HIV
AIDS is
rampant in the area and the church is setting up home bases care groups
to
assist those who are suffering.
The
Children's Society
The Church of England
Children's Society is a charitable company whose objectives are:
to care for and
support children and young people in need,
whatever their race, religion, language or culture, and to promote
their physical,
mental and emotional development.
Those
who are ill
Please continue to pray for those who are ill,
whether at home or in hospital and particularly for any we may know.
Please also remember in your prayers the long-term sick and their
carers.
